Risks of Obesity Cited as #1 Health Issue in 2020

According to Janet L. Bruno MD, an obesity expert, there are a number of diseases which are directly attributable to obesity. She cites the risks of obesity to include heart disease, diabetes, stroke, low back pain, sleep apnea, depression, high cholesterol, joint problems, among others. In fact, a recent study published by the Center for Disease Control states that the combined direct and indirect health care costs resulting from obese and overweight Americans is estimated to be $117 billion per year. Also, statistics demonstrate that death rates increase at least 200% for people who are 50 pounds or more overweight. Dr. Bruno is distributing a new book which is in digital form and available to the public at no cost for a limited time. It offers real world solutions rarely shared by the medical profession.
Dr. Bruno is at the forefront of initiating a major campaign to educate the American public on the real facts of obesity. She believes that the public must first recognize obesity as the disease that it really is before any action can be taken.
Obesity is a disease which is created when someone reaches a certain level of being overweight. There is a statistical methodology that doctors use to quantify this level, which is known as the Body Mass Index (BMI) chart. This simple tool helps doctors create a baseline for their patients, and serves as a method to monitor change.
Unless Americans make the effort to become educated, and receive guidance to move toward their weight loss goals, the health of America will only get worse. Unless change is believed to be critical, the anticipated health care costs will only be increase. “Please become informed, in one way or another, so we as a country can start becoming healthier”.

10 Sure-Fire Tips To Help You Stay Healthy During The Holidays

By Dr. Ralph Napolitano

It never fails. You wait all year for the holiday season to come. And when it arrive. You get sick. You stress out trying to find the right gift for that special someone, you run around from holiday party to holiday party, and you forget about your own health and you get sick.

Staying healthy during this holiday season can help you in several ways. It allows for your energy to boost and gives your body a way to feel more balanced. Because of this, it is important to know what you can do to improve your health. Following are ten sure-fire ways to stay healthy during the holidays.

1. Exercise. This should be done at least four or five times a week. This helps your body to build muscle in several different areas, helps you to lose weight and can prevent illnesses and disease.

2. Watch what you eat. Your daily meals should consist of a healthy balance of foods. Knowing what your body needs, and not going overboard, or eating too little can help in determining a more balanced lifestyle. There are several resources to turn to in order to find what your body needs.

3. Take vitamins and supplements. Paying attention to where your body doesn’t feel balanced is important as well. Once you have determined this, you can balance it out through vitamins and supplements.

4. Sleep. If you are sleep deprived, it causes your body to begin to shut down. Make sure that you feel rested and are getting the right amount of sleep. This will allow your body to work at a consistent and full speed every day.

5. Stay motivated. Often times, it is easy to work on improving our health for two weeks, then to stop once we don’t immediately see results. The major part of improving your health is remaining consistent and motivated in doing activities. Do what you have to do to make sure your health is an everyday concern.

6. Never stop learning. There are several different approaches to what improving health means. This doesn’t stop at diets, but also moves into holistic approaches that can be a part of your diet. Research and keeping up with studies about what works and what doesn’t, can help you in improving and maintaining your health.

7. Consult. There are several health care providers and nutritionists that can help you. If you are uncertain about the steps that you need to take, get in touch with the right person to see what you need to do.

8. Get the right body measurements. Getting your body mass index taken, as well as finding where you need to focus on in order to improve health can help you in staying motivated and focused for improvement with your health.

9. Build a network. A network not only includes those that can provide information for you, but also support that will help you in building and maintaining health.

10. Fight addictions. This is in relation to eating or not eating foods, as well as over consumption of different things. This can imbalance your body easily and cause problems.

Consistently being aware of, and working towards your health can help you to live a more fulfilled and balanced lifestyle. By knowing what you need to do and taking certain steps, it can be assured that you will be able to have a more nutritious and energetic lifestyle.

Now that you know this you will have a happy, healthy holiday season and you will start the new year off with a bang.

Why Are We Growing Fatter?

Recent study conducted on the people on diet has found that out of 100 people, 45 of them have encountered the same problem of weight gaining instead of weight losing. Why is this happening? It all boils to the roles of fats in our body system. Our fats in the body play vital roles in maintaining healthy and radiant skin. Fats also insulate our body organs against shock and help maintaining our body temperature as well as promoting active body cell functions. A layer of fats, known as subcutaneous fat is lined beneath the skin that helps to regulate optimal temperature for all organs in the body, hence people with more fats are more cold resistant than those with less fats. Among all fats, large amount are being stored in the body fat cells as food reservoirs. When we are hungry, our body will induce signals that will trigger the breakdown of fats stored in body fat cells. However during this process, only some of the cellular substances within the fat cells are actually being broken down but not the fat cells themselves. Hence, the number of fat cells will remain constant and they can be replenished later upon consumption of foods by the body. This has explained why our body weight increases rapidly. This phenomena is known as " Rebound". Rebound cases are usually happened on people who take appetite suppressive drugs to reduce their weight. These suppressive drugs will cause nutrition deficiency in the body. Once these people resume their normal diet, the fat cells are replenished and off course rebound occurs and make their body growing fatter.
